Bona is one of the industry leaders in hardwood floor care that is safe for floors, families and environment. It owned is a family owned company founded in 1919, currently present in more than 70 countries. Goal of the project is to include e-commerce and redesign the shopping experience of customers and improve the usability by organizing and presenting the available data.

The following project represents a hypothetical academic exercise and does not reflect work endorsed by the representative brand.

Problem statement

How might we re-engage user traffic to generate more sales?

Organizations apply gamification by creating a gamified user journey to support business goals by leveraging game mechanisms to influence desired behaviors. They nudge customers towards these behaviors by rewarding those behaviors with the biggest impact on business goals and by promoting ongoing engagement. My project was a part of creating these experiences.

Design Approach

The official Double Diamond design model has four stages: Discovery, Definition, Development and Delivery. Together, these stages work as a road map for designers to organize thoughts in order to improve the creative process.

To begin the design process, I first conducted both guerrilla and familiar user interviews to understand the targeted user base, which was anyone and everyone to understand different cleaning products they use and to check the familiarity of the brand among the general population.

Style guide

Introducing new color element different from the existing branding for ease of recognition throughout the application. Understanding color psychology is a key aspect of creating a color palette that works well in digital design. While color is sometimes thought of as a purely aesthetic choice by some designers, it is, in fact, a key component of the psychological impact of a design on users.

Green — Green has varied associations. On one hand, it provokes feelings of wealth and tradition (particularly darker hues), while on the other it’s strongly associated with environmentalism and nature. Leveraging this along with the existing sustainable branding associated with Bona provided this concept.
